ZIPPER FIN HEATSINK

A zipper fin heatsink, also called a snapped fin heat sink, stands as an innovative cooling component. It effectively boosts cooling efficiency. Crafted from aluminum or copper, its interlocked fins maximize surface area, enabling fast heat dissipation. Lightweight, durable, and space – saving, it suits PCs, servers, and high – power electronics seamlessly. Plus, customizable designs fit tight spaces, making it a smart cooling solution to enhance thermal performance.

Structure and Manufacturing Process

A zipper fin heatsink comprises a base and a fin stack, joined via soldering, brazing, or epoxying. Fins take shape by stamping thin metal sheets—typically aluminum or copper. First, a punch shapes the fins, determining their length, height, and pitch. Then, in a secondary punching step, fins fold and interlock with prior ones, ultimately creating a dense parallel fin structure.

Performance Advantages

  • High – efficiency heat dissipation: The interlocking fin design expands the heatsink’s surface area. This aids convection – based heat transfer, boosting thermal performance and swiftly dissipating heat from electronic components.
  • Compact structure: It enables effective cooling even in limited spaces, thus suiting electronic devices with strict space constraints.
  • Optimized airflow: The unique zipper – like fin structure promotes air flow. As a result, air moves through fins more smoothly, carrying away heat at a faster pace.
  • Good structural stability: Interlocking fins enhance the heatsink’s overall strength and rigidity. Consequently, it becomes more durable and less prone to damage.
  • Strong customizability: Based on application needs, you can customize the heatsink’s material, fin size, and spacing. This way, it meets specific heat – dissipation demands of different devices.

Common Materials

Zipper fin heatsinks commonly use aluminum, copper, or inconel. Aluminum is lightweight and offers solid heat dissipation. Copper boasts high thermal conductivity for quicker heat transfer. Inconel excels in high – temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, fitting high – requirement environments. Moreover, heatsink surfaces often undergo nickel – plating or chromate treatment. This not only improves thermal performance but also provides environmental protection.

Application Scenarios

It boasts wide applications, including ordinary PCs, graphics cards, servers, telecommunications equipment, and industrial control devices. Additionally, it works for high – power electronics like inverters, IGBT modules, and rectifiers, as well as LED lighting. By doing so, it ensures components operate normally and extends their service life.
